CHAPTER 15

“Oh my gosh, Della! I love it!” Molly squealed when she walked in the store.

Della looked around the store, glad to see they didn’t have any customers. “You don’t think it looks too…” Della wasn’t sure what word she was looking for. On the drive back, she’d noticed how much fluffier her hair seemed and how different she looked. Not bad. Not bad at all. But it was definitely different.

“No! It’s perfect. You look younger now. Not that you didn’t look young before!” Molly said, hurrying to correct what she’d just said.

Della chuckled. “No, I understand,” she said, calming Molly down. “How have things been here?”

“Same old, same old,” she said with a shrug. “Nothing too wild happened while you were gone.”

“Good,” Della nodded. “Then I’m going to do some work in the office. If you need anything, just let me know,” she said as she walked toward the back room.

“Will do!” Molly called out after her.

Moose had gotten up from where he’d been lying near Molly to follow Della to the office. “You coming with me, big guy?” Della asked as she gave him a scratch behind his ears.

Once she’d sat down in her chair, she grabbed the throw blanket she kept at her desk and spread it across her lap. Then, she started to boot up her computer.

“Oh!” she said to herself as she remembered that she needed to let Jared know what she’d found out about the girlfriend, since he was going to be busy. Her fingers deftly moved over her phone as she typed out a long message about what she thought of Nikki Mages. Was she convinced that she was the killer? Not at all. But could she be crossed off the suspect's list? No to that one, too.

After she’d sent the message to Jared, Della put her phone to the side and began to work on getting some of the new inventory ready to sell. Time started to slip by and after a while she noticed that she’d gotten a few messages from her friends and one from Celia saying there was going to be another committee meeting that night. They would decide at the meeting whether or not the Winter Festival was going to happen or not.

Let me know if anything interesting comes up, Della sent back before sitting back down in her chair.

Della inhaled deeply through her nose as she stretched her arms out above her. How was she going to figure out what had happened to Clint Rogers? She felt as though she was missing some vital component, but she wasn’t even sure where to look to find it.

With the exception of finding out Clint was messaging some woman in front of Nikki, which was why she’d stormed out, she didn’t know where to look next. And it wasn’t like she could just start searching for a woman named Erin. That was far too big a pool to try to fish in.

“Hey,” Molly said, ducking her head into the office.
